ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL
As salaamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu,
This is currently my eighth year as principal at DIS.
I have two Masters’ degrees in Education- the first is an M.A. in Educational Leadership and Educational Technology from Michigan State University and the second one is an M.S. in Instruction from Drexel University. I am also a Certified Chairperson for Accreditation of public and non-public schools through Cognia formerly known as Advanc-Ed.
Before coming to DIS I was at Al-Iman School in Raleigh, NC for nine years where I served as the Accreditation/School Improvement Team Lead and alhamdu lillah was able to help the school get a highly functional rating in all the accreditation standards. I taught Middle School Science every year during my nine years at the school and, in addition, I taught Social Studies, Health, Physical Education (P.E.), and Islamic Studies. I also tutored students during the summer in Mathematics and Language Arts. Additionally, I served as the Student Council and National Junior Honor Society Advisor, Assistant Basketball Coach, and Administrator for various Educational Technology tools such as Study Island and Accelerated Reader.
All of these experiences have helped me develop the leadership skills and knowledge base that I will use to facilitate the best possible education for your child at DIS, with the permission of Allah.
I view parents as partners in their children’s education, and I hope to establish positive lines of communication that will make the DIS school experience an excellent one.
I am married and have two children. I love Islam and want to let everybody know about the truth of Islam and its beauty and following it according to the Quran and Sunnah. I am a big sports fan and follow most sports. I was the assistant basketball coach at Al-Iman for 8 years and have helped coach basketball during my time at DIS.
